Torch and hula show returns to Kuhio Beach

Advertiser Staff

Starting Wednesday, the daily Kuhio Beach Torch Lighting and Hula Show will return to the hula mound at the beach.

In May, the show, which is free and open to the public, was temporarily relocated to the Kapi'olani Park bandstand while the city renovated the mound.

The renovation cost $120,000 and was scheduled to be completed by the end of August.

The project included replacing the natural turf, which was difficult to maintain, with artificial turf and installing a wear-resistant surface on the hula mound and a concrete pad at the back of the stage area.

Show time remains from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. daily.

For more information, call the city's Office of Economic Development at 843-8002.
