Rainbow Wahine volleyball team picked to win WAC

The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team has been picked to win its 12th consecutive Western Athletic Conference title in a vote of league coaches.

The Rainbow Wahine received eight of the nine first-place votes with coaches not allowed to select their own team.

New Mexico State was picked No. 2 with San Jose State and Idaho tied for third.

UH is coming off a 29-6 season in which it won the WAC with a 15-1 record and advanced to a regional final, falling to UCLA.

The WAC Tournament will be held in Las Cruces, N.M. Nov. 15-17.

UH opens its season Aug. 24 with the Asics Rainbow Wahine Invitational. UH plays Michigan on Aug. 24, Colorado State on Aug. 25 and Oregon State on Aug. 26.
