Big Island police yesterday arrested a 34-year-old man for investigation of attempted murder in connection with the shooting of a Kurtistown woman, who was found wandering Friday in a remote forest area in Ka'u.

Rodney Dean Bohol Sr., also known as Stacey Kealoha Kawaehai, turned himself in at the Hilo police station yesterday at 2:10 p.m., according to police.

Bohol was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, Bohol has 34 convictions dating back to February 1993. He has felony convictions for kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening and burglary, and misdemeanor offenses that include abuse of a family member.

The woman was reportedly kidnapped from home by three people a week ago. Investigators believe she was beaten and taken to Wai'ohinu off Hao Springs Road and shot several times. Workers from the Department of Water Supply found her Friday.
