Dow drops 150 points; subprime concerns arise anew

Stocks tumbled Tuesday on renewed concerns about renewed concerns subprime loans, and put an end to a rally that had held through most of the session. The Dow Jones industrials dropped nearly 150 points, and investors fled into safer cash investments like U.S. Treasury bonds.
The Dow fell 146.32, or 1.10 percent, to 13,211.99.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 18.64, or 1.26 percent, to 1,455.27.
The Nasdaq composite index fell 37.01, or 1.43 percent, to 2,546.27.
For the week:
The Dow is down 53.48, or 0.40 percent.
The S&P is down 3.68, or 0.25 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 15.97, or 0.62 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 748.84, or 6.01 percent.
The S&P is up 36.97, or 2.61 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 130.98, or 5.42 percent.
