Felon charged with attempted murder on Big Island

Big Island authorities today charged a 35-year-old man and arrested two women in connection with the kidnapping and shooting of a woman who was found alive Friday in a remote forest area in Ka'u.

Rodney Dean Bohol Sr., also known as Stacey Kealoha Kawaehai, was charged at 1:55 p.m. today with attempted second-degree murder, kidnapping, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, promoting a detrimental drug, and four firearm offenses including use of a firearm in the commission of separate felony.

Bohol is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Bohol has 34 prior convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.

Police today also arrested a Hilo woman, 34, and a 36-year-old woman from Orchidland for investigation of attempted murder.

Both are being held without charges at the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation.
