Local storyteller wins honors

Jeff Gere, a drama specialist for the City & CountyHonolulu Parks Department, recently returned from the National Storytelling Conference in St. Louis where he received the National Oracle Service Award for the service (Western Region).
Gere, who for 18 years has run the Talk Story Festival, Hawaii's largest storytelling celebration, also has created a spin-off monthly storytelling video shows on 'Olelo, and the weekly Talk Story Radio playing weekly on Hawaii Public Radio's KIPO (89.3FM Mondays at 5:30pm) and KTUH and Maui's Mana'o Radio.
His "Rank Devil Mountain" CD received honors as Outstanding
Storytelling Recording for 2007 from the national Storytelling World Resources Project.
