Baseball: Phillies place Victorino on disabled list

Advertiser Staff

Philadelphia Phillies have placed outfielders Shane Victorino, of Maui, and Michael Bourn on the 15-day disabled list, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer.

Victorino suffered a small tear in his right calf Monday while trying to beat out a double play in the fourth inning of Monday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

Bourn, who replaced Victornio in the field, sprained an ankle when he stumbled over the bullpen mound trying to make a play in the fifth inning.

Victorino is having a breakout season for the Phillies, batting .286 with 11 home runs and 32 stolen bases in 406 at bats.

Outfielders Chris Roberson and Jayson Werth were added to the roster to replace Victorino and Bourn.
