Winners of duct tape prom outfit contest announced

Advertiser Staff

It's never too soon to begin planning for prom — especially if you've a hankering to create a prom ensemble from duct tape, and maybe win a college scholarship.

This month two high school students from Salisbury, Pa. were named winners of the seventh annual "Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest" sponsored by Duck brand duct tape. They arrived at their prom wearing creations made of brown, pink, orange, green and yellow duct tape weighing about 25 pounds apiece. Each won a $3,000 scholarship, and their school — Salisbury-Elk Lick High — won $3,000 for hosting the prom.

The winning students, Adrienne Beiler and Zac Cupler, created duds that included a hot pink shirt for Zac's brown suit that matched Adrienne's fitted dress with a hoop skirt made from multiple layers of colored tape.

Winners were decided by online voting at www.stuckatprom.com. Contestants can also enter on this Web site, which includes photos of this year's contestants and winners.
