Borders bookstores promote Hawaii Literacy program

Advertiser Staff

Borders stores on Oahu will be collecting new books and promoting the Hawaii Literacy program throughout the month of August.

Hawaii Literacy works with children through its Family Literacy and Bookmobile (the "Classroom on Wheels") Programs; it works with adults in various housing projects who are getting help in English as a Second Language; and it works with adults on basic reading and writing skills in its Adult Literacy and Drop-in Center Programs. Books on the charity's "wish list" can be purchased at the stores and then donated to Hawaii Literacy.

All books collected will be used to benefit the various programs.

In addition to collecting donated books, Borders on Oahu will donate 5 percent of its total sales from the purchase of those books to Hawaii Literacy.
