KSSK launches high-definition broadcast

Advertiser Staff

On Wednesday, Dale Machado, Clear Channel Radio Hawai'i's chief engineer, flicked a switch to launch the high definition (HD) format for Honolulu radio station KSSK.

The FM channel, rated No. 1, is being rebroadcast in HD format on 92.3-1. A new second KSSK station, The Lounge 92.3-2, also is broadcasting in HD with a smooth jazz format. Listeners need an HD radio to pick up the new signals.

"It was such a pleasure and so appropriate to have Dale launch the new stations for us," said Chuck Cotton, vice president and general manager for Clear Channel in Hawai'i, in a statement. "He just celebrated 30 years with KSSK and has seen the industry change from the days of 45s and LPs and now to our new HD formats."
