Hokule'a crew waiting out storm system

Advertiser Staff

The crew of the voyaging canoe Hokule'a opted to put off their departure this morning from Uwajima, to get some rest before the week-long passage to Yokohama, and to let a low-pressure system pass.

Polynesian Voyaging Society president Nainoa Thompson, who is scheduled to arrive back in Honolulu this morning, reported that the low-pressure system was expected to bring gusty winds and rain.

"They have decided to let the low go by and catch the good weather behind it," the society said in a press release.
