In the second game, Monica Abbott allowed six hits and Lindsay Schutzler scored on an error to lead Tennessee to a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Arizona.

Tennessee (61-6), which features Hawai'i players Anita Manuma and Liane Horiuchi, and Washington (42-17) both play again on Sunday. Tennessee defeated Hawai'i in the Super Regional last week to advance to the world series.

The sixth-seeded Huskies scored six runs in the fifth inning, chasing Northwestern ace Eileen Canney (32-10) for three batters before she re-entered to close out the inning.

The result was the most lopsided loss for the Wildcats since 2004 and the first time they were run-ruled since they lost 8-0 to Arizona on Feb. 10, 2006. The last time Northwestern lost by a larger margin was an 11-1 setback against Kansas on Feb. 7, 2004.

Northwestern (51-12) will play the winner of the Texas A&M-Baylor game on Saturday and still has a chance to win the double-elimination tournament.

Washington starter Danielle Lawrie (31-11), who threw a no-hitter against DePaul in the opening round, struck out 11 and allowed only one hit against the Wildcats — Nicole Pauly's leadoff double in the second inning.

Dominique Lastrapes also had two of the five hits for Washington, which took advantage of five walks by Canney and three more by reliever Lauren Delaney.

In the nightcap, both teams went scoreless until the sixth inning, when Tennessee loaded the bases. After Horiuchi was tagged out trying to score, Tiffany Huff reached first on a fielding error by Chelsie Mesa and Schutzler crossed scored the game's only run.

Abbott (48-3) pitched a complete game, striking out 16 for Tennessee.
