Plantation Day includes obon

Hawaii's Plantation Village is holding a free Relive the Plantation Days event tomorrow that will include a genealogy workshop and an obon celebration.

The celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

A "how-to" genealogy workshop will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the social hall. Experts in Chinese, Portuguese, Puerto Rican, Hawaiian, Japanese, Okinawan and Korean genealogy will be on hand.

The obon ceremony will run from 4 to 10 p.m. Dance groups from around the island will participate. A food tent will offer local dishes, snacks and refreshments for sale from 5 p.m.
