Work will close Maui beach park for 3 months

Advertiser Staff

Improvements to Mai Poina 'Oe Ia'u Beach Park (also known as

"Memorial Park" or "Windsurfing Beach") on Maui will begin June 4 and continue for approximately 3.5 months.

During construction, the pavilion area will be closed to the public. However, portable toilets will be available on site.

The nearly $500,000 worth of improvements to the 3-acre park include demolition of the existing pavilion, and construction of a new pavilion with restrooms, landscaping and parking. The contractor, Maui Master Builders, will erect dust screens beginning Monday.

Mai Poina 'Oe Ia'u Beach Park is in North Kihei off South Kihei Road. For more information, call 270-7981.
