Search for missing fisherman called off

Advertiser Staff

Rescuers have suspended their search for a 60-year-old fisherman who was last seen near the Halona Blowhole, in an area called Bamboo Ridge.

The Coast Guard and Fire Department had searched Thursday and yesterday for the man, who apparently fell into the water.

The search was suspended this morning, the Coast Guard said.

The man was described as being 5-foot-7, and weighing 135 pounds.

The Coast Guard and Fire Department used helicopters and boats to look for the man, combing the shoreline between Makapu'u Point and Hanauma Bay. They also searched waters up to five miles offshore, officials said.
