Driver's license service to end in Pearl City on June 29

Advertiser Staff

The Pearl City Driver License Substation at 1100 Waimano Home Road will be closed permanently beginning June 30 because of renovations being made to the Pearl City Police Station, which shares the building.

The renovations are being done to meet federal requirements for housing juvenile detainees.

June 29 will be the last day of business for the Pearl City Driver License Substation.

The City is seeking a new location for a driver license substation in the Pearl City area.

"It's been difficult finding a site with the requisite space, parking and safe ingress and egress," said Jeff Coelho, director of Customer Services. "We will continue seeking a spot to serve this growing area of Oahu."

Meanwhile, the Motor Vehicle, Licensing and Permits Division of the Department of Customer Service continues to offer driver license road tests and other driver license services on weekdays at:

· Main Station at City Square in Kapalama, 1199 Dillingham Blvd.

· Kapolei Substation, 1000 Uluohia St.

· Koolau Substation at Koolau Center (formerly Temple Valley Shopping Center), 47-388 Hui Iwa St.

· Wahiawa Substation, 330 North Cane St.

· Waianae Substation (Mondays and Wednesdays only), 85-670 Farrington Highway.

Driver license renewals and duplicates are offered at the Fort Street Mall, Windward Mall and Hawaii Kai satellite city halls. In addition, the City has added license renewal and duplicate service at the newly renovated Pearlridge Satellite City Hall.
