Moderate earthquake shakes area near Luzon, Philippines

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 shook the Luzon area of the Philipines about 12:10 today Hawaii time, according to the United States Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of injury or damage resulting from the quake.

The epicenter was reported to be about 35 miles east of San Pedro, Luzon, and about 125 miles east-southeast of Manila.
