Broncos sign DT Sam Adams

DENVER — Veteran defensive tackle Sam Adams, who played last season with Cincinnati, signed today with Denver.

The 335-pound Adams, a three-time Pro Bowler, previously played for Buffalo, Oakland, Baltimore and Seattle, winning a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens after the 2000 season and playing in the title game with Oakland two years later. He was a first-round pick of Seattle in 1994, the eighth overall choice in the draft..

Adams, who will turn 34 on June 13, is known as a run-stuffer, but has 44 career sacks, fourth among active defensive tackles. In 195 career regular-season games, he has started 166 times and recorded 463 tackles, including 326 solo; three interceptions for 62 yards; 37 pass breakups, 10 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

He has 10 postseason starts with 26 tackles (17 solo), two sacks for nine yards, four pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery

Adams started all 16 games for the Bengals last year with 25 tackles, two sacks for eight yards and one pass breakup.
