Northeast Asia media coverage up for discussion

Challenges in Northeast Asia and media coverage will be the topic of a lunch panel on Wednesday at the Hawai'i Imin International Conference Center at the East-West Center.

Senior journalists from Japan, South Korea and the United States will discuss themes such as: Breaking the Impasse: Moving Ahead on North Korea; U.S. Politics and Asia Policy; Forces Driving Regional Trade; and Reconciling Histories in Northeast Asia. Cost is $22 for nonmembers.

Journalists attending the three-day conference include representatives of Asahi Shimbun,The Mainichi Newspapers, Okinawa Times, Nikkei Newspapers, and NHK; Korea Economic Daily, Busan Ilbo, YTN, Pressian, KyungHyang Shinmun, and Hankook Ilbo and Bloomberg News, The Honolulu Advertiser, US News and World Report, and CNN. The co-sponsors are: East-West Center, Friends of the East-West Center, Pacific and Asian Affairs Council, Society of Professional Journalists and the Honolulu Community-Media Council.
