More Leeward Coast water main repairs under way

Advertiser Staff

Another round of repairs is under way today to a water main that supplies the Leeward Coast.

As repairs tied to a break in a 24-inch-wide underground pipe were wrapping up this morning, another leak was found in the area along Farrington Highway, across from the Kahe Point power plant.

The initial break was detected at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday when operators monitoring the Board of Water Supply system noted a rapid drop in water levels at a Lualualei reservoir, according to spokeswoman Tracy Burgo.

Some area customers experienced little or no water pressure because of the break.

The Board of Water Supply is asking residents of Honokai Hale and Nanakuli to conserve water today as a means to restoring reservoir levels, Burgo said.
