24-VII Dance concert set

Advertiser Staff

"Red," the color that often signals danger and passion, will be theme of 24-VII Dance's five summer concerts beginning 7:30 p.m. June 29 at Paliku Theatre at Windward Community College.

The performances, choreographed and directed by Marcelo Pacleb, assemble 120 dancers from Danceforce, plus the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior Dancers and the University of Hawai'i Drumforce. There will be 22 numbers on the bill, representing diverse dance styles, from jazz to hip-hop, from breakdancing to drumming.

Veteran choreographers-dancers Mark Kanemura, Ry'n Sabado and Preston Meneses contributed to the show, but will not perform: Kanemura and Meneses are joining Janet Jackson's upcoming world tour as a choreographer-dancer and as Jackson's makeup artist, respectively; and Sabado is teaching dance classes in Japan this summer.

Reserved tickets: $15 ($18 after June 28). Information: 235-5141 or http://www.247danceforce.org.
