Water-main fix expected today

Advertiser Staff

Repairs to a water main that supplies the Leeward Coast were expected to be completed by morning rush hour today, restoring full service to residents of Honokai Hale and Nanakuli.

The break in a 24-inch-wide underground pipe was detected about 7:30 a.m. yesterday along Farrington Highway, across from the Kahe Point power plant, after operators monitoring the Board of Water Supply system detected a rapid drop in water levels at a Lualualei reservoir, according to spokeswoman Tracy Burgo.

Some area customers experienced little or no water pressure because of the break, Burgo said.
