Bishop Museum to host Moonlight Mele concerts

A Moonlight Mele series, a nocturnal summertime event featuring Island entertainment, will be launched June 28 at Bishop Museum's Great Lawn.

The series, at 7 p.m. on selected Thursdays, will feature pre-concert ola (storytelling) by cultural educators. There will be prize give-aways for the audience. Gates open at 6 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for museum members).

Headliners will be:

i June 28 — The Brothers Cazimero, contemporary and traditional Hawaiian act featuring Robert and Roland Cazimero.

i July 19 — Jake Shimabukuro, 'ukulele virtuoso.

i Aug. 16 — The Makaha Sons, contemporary and traditional Hawaiian trio featuring Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, Jerome Koko and John Koko.

Tickets: $17.50 advance, $20 at the door $12.50 for museum members and military; $10 for Bank of Hawaii customers; $10 children 4-12; free for keiki 3 and younger; $45 for the series.
