Police removing grenade projectile at Wai'anae Store

Advertiser Staff

Police have cordoned off a small grassy area in front of Wai'anae Store after finding what appears to be a projectile from an automatic grenade launcher. Police said it is not a typical grenade, per se, but more like an oversized bullet. It is about 4 1/2 inches long.

The store, at 85-863 Farrington Highway, remains open for business.

Police said military ordinance disposal technicians have been called to the scene to remove the item, which was reported about 10:10 a.m.

The store is situated next to the Wai'anae Police Station.
