Bishop Museum's Jiao honored

The chairman of anthropology at Bishop Museum has been recognized for outstanding scholarship in Asian studies by Cambria Press, of New York.

The award recognizes Tianlong Jiao's new book, "The Neolithic of Southeast China: Cultural Transformation and Regional Interaction on the Coast."

The book was published by Cambria Press, which only prints books intended for scholarly research. Authors are usually professors or researchers.

Jiao is a world-renowned expert of Chinese archaeology. He recently curated the Bishop Museum's exhibit, "Lost Maritime Cultures: China and the Pacific."
