Two Kalihi men struck by a car in Mapunapuna late last night while running up Moanalua Freeway remained in critical condition today at The Queen's Medical Center, according to police.

Police traffic investigation Sgt. Alan Vegas said the men ran from a vehicle stopped on Moanalua Freeway where an argument was occurring at about 11:30 p.m.

The men, ages 23 and 20, were running north on the freeway's eastbound lanes when they were struck by a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 66-year-old Pearl City man, said Vegas.

The collision occurred 233 feet west of the Ahua Street overpass.

The freeway was closed to traffic shortly until about 2:30 a.m., police said.
