Investors buy firm that owns some Roy's restaurants

Advertiser Staff

A public company with some 1,400 restaurants including more than 20 Roy's outside Hawai'i has agreed to a buyout offer from an investor group.

Florida-based OSI Restaurant Partners Inc. announced the $3.2 billion purchase from a group led by Bain Capital Partners LLC and Catterton Management Co. LLC.

OSI operates several restaurant brands, including Outback Steakhouse and Cheeseburger in Paradise. The company at the end of last year had a minority interest in 23 Roy's outside Hawai'i through a partnership with Roy Yamaguchi.

OSI does not have an ownership interest in the seven Roy's restaurants in Hawai'i, two in Japan, one in Guam and two on the Mainland.
