Maui nonprofit arts industry spurs $22M in spending

The nonprofit arts industry on Maui generates an estimated $22.2 million of expenditures, according to a new national study that attempts to quantify the economic impact of the arts and culture industry.The study, Arts & Economic Prosperity III, looked at 156 communities in the United States. The study by Americans for the Arts found that nationwide the industry produces $166.2 billion in activity each year.
Maui was the only community surveyed in Hawai'i. Its spending total included $11.6 million of organizational spending and $10.6 million of audience expenditures.
