TALLINN, Estonia — David Beckham set up two goals with crosses to lead England over Estonia 3-0 today in a European Championship qualifier.

In his first competitive match for England since last summer's World Cup, Beckham fed Peter Crouch in the 54th minute and Michael Owen in the 62nd. Joe Cole had put England ahead in the 37th minute when he beat goalkeeper Mart Poom with a spin and volley from the edge of the penalty area.

"It was clear in the first half that they were trying to find Beckham and he was coming in with great crosses," Estonia coach Jelle Goes said. "Two great deliveries — that's why he's back in the team."

Beckham, who returned to England's national team for last week's exhibition against Brazil, had a free kick in the fifth minute that just missed, then struggled after turning his left ankle early in the match. The 32-year-old midfielder leaves Spain's Real Madrid at the end of the month to join Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy.

England (4-1-2), which is home for four of its last five qualifiers, is fourth in Group E with 14 points, three behind Croatia (5-0-2) and Israel (5-1-2). and one behind Russia (4-0-3). The top two nations advance to next year's tournament.

Owen's goal was his first for England since severely injuring his knee during the World Cup.

John Terry saved a goal when he cleared the ball off the goal line after England goalkeeper Paul Robinson was beaten in injury time.
