Local Portland cement shipments up 0.7% in March

Shipments of portland cement to Hawai'i rose to 40,947 metric tons in March, a 0.7 percent increase from the same month a year earlier.That compared with a year-over-year increase of 12.3 percent in February, according to Bloomberg News Service.
Nationwide, shipments declined 4.9 percent in March from a year earlier. Portland cement is a common type of cement used in making concrete.
