Author Michele Simon to discuss book on food industry

Author Michele Simon will discuss her book "Appetite for Profit: How the Food Industry Undermines Our Health," at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse, 404 Kapahulu Ave.

Simon is a public health lawyer who has been working as a nutrition advocate since 1996. Her lecture and refreshments are free.

She has published numerous articles about such issues as the National School Lunch Program, the Dietary Guidelines, and corporate lobbying. She lectures extensively and teaches Health Policy at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she also received her law degree. She earned her master's degree in public health at Yale University.
