National survey reveals arts generate $22 million on Maui

The national survey "Arts & Economic Prosperity III" reveals that nonprofit arts and culture groups on Maui generates $22.19 million in local economic activity. This spending — $11.62 million by nonprofit arts and culture organizations and an additional $10.57 million in event-related spending by their audiences — supports 544 full-time-equivalent jobs, generates $9.9 million in household income to local residents, and delivers $1.32 million in local and state government revenue.

The study, released last month, was conducted by the nonprofit Americans for the Arts and supported by the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and The Ruth Lilly Fund of Americans for the Arts.
