Kawahara nominated for DLNR water resources post

Ken Kawahara, a communications officer with experience in civil and environmental engineering, has been nominated as deputy director of water resources at the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.

Gov. Linda Lingle announced the nomination today. The nomination must be approved by the Commission on Water Resource Management.

Kawahara is communications officer for the city's Department of Environmental Services. He used to manage the department's regulatory control branch. He was also a consultant at the city's Wai'anae Wastewater Treatment Plant. He managed construction at the West Loch Fairways subdivision and was a construction engineer at `Ewa By Gentry.

Kawahara also coordinated projects at the Hawai'i Community Development Authority's Kaka'ako improvement district.
