Water conservation urged on Kaua'i

Advertiser Staff

Department of Water officials are asking residents in the Kilauea area of Kaua'i, including Wailapa and Kalihiwai, to exercise voluntary water conservation over the next few months in light of the current and forecasted dry weather conditions that have impacted water service in the area.

Among the suggested ways that residents can save water include minimizing lawn irrigation, washing vehicles, dust control and other nonessential uses.

In addition, it is recommended that residents take fire-prevention measures.

Anyone with questions should call the Department of Water at (808) 245-5455 during business hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or Police Dispatch at (808) 241-1711 after business hours.
