Greek Festival set for Aug. 25-26

Advertiser Staff

You can be Greek for a day by sampling authentic cuisine and dancing to Greek music at the 27th Annual Greek Festival.

The festival runs noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 25-26 at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Park.

Fotia, a popular Greek band from the West Coast, will perform, along with guitarist Sotos Kappas, the Nisiotes Dance Group and Partners in Time. Audience members can participate in Greek folk dances, with lessons provided, and be Zorba the Greek for a few moments.

The usual Greek delights — spanokopita (spinach pie), gyro sandwiches, moussaka, souvlaki, and baklava — will be available. The Greek Tavana will feature imported beers from Greece, Ouzo, and wines.

Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Pacific is sponsor of the festival.

Admission is $3 (free for youths 11 and younger).
