Explosive device found near Likelike accident scene

Police recovered a small unexploded pipe bomb early this morning near the side of the road on Likelike Highway.The plastic-explosive device, about four inches long, was discovered by a police officer while he was responding to the scene of a single-car accident near the H-3 exit around 1 a.m.
Police said the device appeared to be old and looked soiled, as if somebody had tried to light it but it fizzled.
The exit was shut down until police dealt with the device.
It was removed without incident.
