Hawaiian Moon moves store to Waikiki Beach Walk

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Moon is moving its island-wear retail store from the Waikele Premium Outlets location to the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Walk complex.

The company has served the local market since 1999, and sees this as a way to expand service to visitors, which "in recent years has grown exponentially for the local apparel retailer."

Hawaiian Moon — Beachwalk has opened on the second floor, next to Holokai Grill. It will be open everyday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Waikele location will close at the end of this month.

Aaron Chan, president and owner of Hawaiian Moon, said the company has been fortunate that many of its employees are moving with the store.

"With the tight labor market in Hawai'i, we found it challenging to adequately staff our Waikiki location," Chan said. "When we asked our current employees in Waikele if they were willing to relocate to Waikiki, they all showed enthusiasm and many have already moved to homes closer to town."

Hawaiian Moon has another location at Ward Warehouse and an online store available in English and Japanese. Hawaiian Moon plans to open more retail locations here on O'ahu and the Neighbor Islands.

Hawaiian Moon was the winner of the 2006 Retail Manufacturer of the Year at the Retail Merchants of Hawaii Ho'okela Awards.

The Hawaiian Moon clothing line features exclusive prints inspired by Hawai'i's oceans, volcanic mountains, tropical foliage, native arts and the aloha spirit. They include men's, women's, children's and doggie aloha attire exclusively made in Hawai'i. Hawaiian Moon also specializes in matching outfits for special occasions such as weddings.
