Qantas plans to increase U.S. services to Australia

Qantas Airways announced yesterday that it is increasing its U.S. services to Australia effective in March, and that its new schedule will hold onto three ongoing weekly flights from Honolulu to Sydney.

The airline is adding two weekly nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Brisbane, Australia, a Qantas news release said. The schedule will also increase its services between Los Angeles and Sydney, which will result in a total of 17 weekly services.

The new Qantas schedule also includes:

  • Increasing to daily service between Los Angeles and Brisbane effective March 27, 2008.

  • Increasing to 17 weekly flights between Los Angeles and Sydney effective March 30, 2008.

  • Increasing to daily service from New York to Sydney via Los Angeles effective Aug. 14.

  • 38 flights per week from Los Angeles to Australia and New Zealand.

  • Five weekly flights from San Francisco.

  • Three flights per week from Vancouver via San Francisco, operated seasonally between June 13 and Aug. 12, 2007, and Dec. 16, 2007, and Jan. 27, 2008.
