Jack Johnson to release fifth album in 2008

Advertiser Staff

Billboard.com reported yesterday that North Shore native Jack Johnson has started recording his fifth full-length album, which he plans to release in early 2008. The article also said he's in the midst of laying down a bamboo floor in the control room of his record studio in Los Angeles.

In the Billboard.com interview, Johnson said he is working with his usual rhythm section — bassist Merlo Podlewski and drummer Adam Topol — plus recent addition Zach Gill on piano and accordion. He's also returned to producer JP Plunier. In the article, he said 75 percent of the material for the album was written and it wouldn't deviate much from his "laid-back grooves."

The article said Johnson will break from recording to play at the Australian Live Earth concert on July 7 in Sydney, Australia.
