Advertiser Staff

The tourism industry marketing folks hit the road again next week, targeting East Coast-based associations interested in expanding in the Pacific Rim for meetings business.

The weeklong sales effort is led by the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau in collaboration with the Hawai'i Convention Center and several travel industry partners. It includes presentations to clients in Philadelphia and south New Jersey, June 11-13, and culminates with a Hawaii-themed tradeshow exhibit at Springtime 2007 in Washington, D.C., on June 14.

"We're building on our overall strategy by marketing to associations headquartered in the U.S. that want to expand their multi-national business interests to the Pacific Rim and beyond," said Michael Murray, the bureau's vice president of sales and marketing for corporate meetings and incentives.

On June 11, the Hawaii Convention Center will honor King Kamehameha Day with a client reception at its Washington, DC, offices with Hawaiian music, a buffet, and cultural speakers. The event will begin three days of presentations by the Hawaii sales team to clients representing associations in the greater Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia regions.

On Thursday,Springtime "the world's biggest one-day association tradeshow in the world's biggest association market," takes place at the Washington Convention Center. It is expected to attract more than 800 exhibitors and 4,500 meetings professionals representing the 3,500 national and international associations based in the Washington, D.C. area.
