Jewelry designs go on display

Gloria Brasuel's floating pearls and other jewelry will be shown in a trunk show today at East Honolulu Clothing.

Andrea Weymouth-Fujie, owner of Double Paws Wear and of East Honolulu Clothing Co., is holding a trunk show of Gloria Brasuel's jewelry designs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at her shop at 3394 Wai'alae Ave. Prices for the jewelry, made of Venetian glass, semiprecious stones and floating pearls, are $36 to $69.

NAKE'U AWAI

Fashion designer Nake'u Awai is known for his fashion spectacles, in which entertainment is as important as the clothing.

Now he brings his mix of dance, music and fashion to the amphitheater at Ward Warehouse from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Check out his latest Island fashions while enjoying his signature showmanship.

NEW JUNGLE GEMS

Jungle Gems has been ensconced in the North Shore Marketplace for nearly 20 years. Now it's coming to town, opening a new store downtown at 12 S. King St., between Bethel and Nu'uanu.

The shop is known for designing and hand-crafting gemstone jewelry in sterling silver and 14-karat gold. Information: 545-4202.

XCEL TAKES TOP AWARD

Hale'iwa-based Xcel Wetsuits has been awarded the prestigious Wetsuit of the Year award for 2006 for the company's Infiniti Series. The award was announced at the Surf Industry Manufacturer's Association conference in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

It's a great way for the company to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The award recognizes Xcel for producing the wetsuit that "featured the most exciting design, appeal or innovation" of all those produced in 2006.

SO GOOD JEWELRY

Alen Kaneshiro is an attorney. Christopher Otto is a certified financial planner. Somehow, both of them decided the time was right to open Honolulu's first So Good Jewelry store in Waikiki. Go figure.

MACY'S COMMUNITY

Macy's O'ahu stores have begun selling $10 tickets for this year's Community Shopping Day. Shoppers who buy tickets get 10 percent to 20 percent discounts on almost all purchases made on June 22, while participating nonprofits get to keep 100 percent of their ticket sale proceeds; they also share in-store ticket sale proceeds. More than 50 nonprofits are participating this year, said Deena Nichols, senior vice president and director of stores for Macy's in Hawai'i.
