Advertiser Staff

Traffic heading into Waikiki will be diverted starting at 5:30 p.m. today for the Pan-Pacific Matsuri in Hawai'i Ho'olaule'a.

The event, which starts at 7 p.m., will close all lanes and sidewalk areas on Kalakaua Avenue from Lewers Street to Ka'iulani Avenue.

More than 30,000 people are expected to participate in the free event, which will feature live entertainment and ethnic food booths.

The three-day festival culminates with the Matsuri Parade starting at 5 p.m. Sunday from Fort DeRussy to Kapi'olani Park.
