Women's softball College World Series big TV draw

Associated Press

NEW YORK — Arizona's 5-0 championship victory over Tennessee on Wednesday averaged 1.676 million households and a 1.8 rating, making it the most viewed Women's College World Series game ever on ESPN or ESPN2.

Arizona won its second consecutive NCAA softball title in the third game of the championship series.

The 1.8 rating is tied for ESPN and ESPN2's highest-rated softball telecast with the deciding game of the 2005 championship series between Michigan and UCLA, which was also the previous most-viewed with 1.644 million households.

ESPN2's Game 2 telecast of the title game averaged 1.449 million households and a 1.5 rating, making it the networks second most-viewed and second highest-rated Womens College World Series game. The three-game Championship Final coverage averaged 1.363 million households and a 1.5 rating, making it the most-viewed and highest-rated softball championship series.
