A man believed to be in his mid-40s was taken to The Queen's Medical Center after a vehicle in which he was driving went into the Ala Wai Canal this morning at around 10:20 a.m., according to Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
The man's condition was later changed to critical condition.
A bystander in his early 20s, who dove into the canal to assist, received numerous minor cuts, bruises and jellyfish stings, and was taken to Queen's in stable condition, Cheplic said.
