Moses named head of Office of Veterans Services

HONOLULU — Gov. Linda Lingle has turned to former state Rep. Mark S. Moses to serve as director of the Office of Veterans Services.

Moses, a retired Marine Corps major, was a Republican member of the House for 10 years. He first represented the Village Park, 'Ewa and Kunia communities and then Makakilo, Kapolei and Royal Kunia before losing his seat last year to Democrat Sharon Har.

In his new position, Moses will oversee the development and coordination of statewide policies and programs related to veterans, their dependents and survivors.

"I am pleased that Mark is willing to continue to serve the people of Hawaii," Lingle said Friday. "As a retired Marine officer, and through his experience as a state legislator and active community leader, Mark understands the needs of our veterans and their families, who represent a key segment of our community."

Moses is to start his new position June 15. Earlier this year, Lingle appointed Moses to serve on the Statewide Health Coordinating Council and the Health Planning Council, West Oahu Sub-area.

Before holding elective office, Moses worked for Computer Sciences Corp.'s Applied Technologies Division in Arlington, Va., as a senior systems engineer and senior project engineer at the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kaua'i.
