The Honolulu medical examiner's officer today identified a motorcyclist who died after a collision late last night as John Ligsay, 67, of Wahiawa.

Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Alan Vegas said today the victim had been driving a 2004 Harley-Davidson, on Wilikina Drive, that collided with another motorcycle at 10:39 p.m. 537 feet west of Lake View Circle,

Ligsay was thrown from his motorcycle and may have been struck by the second motorycle, a 2002 Harley-Davidson driven by a 63-year-old 'Ewa Beach man, said Vegas.

Ligsay was taken in critical condition to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m.

The 'Ewa Beach man was treated for minor injuries and released.

Speed apparently was a factor, and neither man wore a helmet, Vegas said.

The death is O'ahu's 36th traffic fatality of 2007 as compared to 44 by this day in 2006.

The medical examiner's office is awaiting confirmation of the identity of a 57-year-old Pearl City man who died at The Queen's Medical Center after crashing his van into a chain-link fence on Forrest Avenue, 130 feet south of Ala Moana, at 9:44 a.m.

Witnesses told police the man may have suffered a medical condition , said vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Danny Kaholokula. An autopsy will be performed Tuesday.
