Ala Wai School graduates get special gift

By Rod Ohira

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. and Frank Coluccio Construction awarded $25 Borders Books gift cards to each of the 80 members of Ala Wai School's fifth-grade graduating class on Thursday.

The two companies are working on the city's Beachwalk Wastewater Emergency Bypass system, and Ala Wai School's fifth-grade classes have been the most affected by the project because of their nearness to the busiest areas of construction.

Hawaiian Dredging last year also purchased sound systems for the school's classrooms.

Four educators who worked with the fifth-grade students also received $25 gift certificates.
