Prosecutors today charged a Waimalu man with attempted first-degree sex assault and first-degree burglary.

Police said Michael Moses Fernandez, 30, broke into the Waipahu home of a woman, 30, at 5 a.m. on Thursday and tried to sexually attack her.

The woman had obtained a temporary restraining order against Fernandez.

Bail for Fernandez was set at $40,000.
