Wahiawa man dies in motorcycle crash near Schofield

Advertiser Staff

A 67-year-old man from Wahiawa died following a speed-related motorcycle crash near Schofield Barracks late Saturday night.

The man, whose name was not released by police, was riding a silver and blue 2004 Harley-Davidson and collided with another Harley driven by a companion, according to police.

Police said the second motorcyclist, a 63-year-old man from 'Ewa Beach, may have struck the Wahiawa man after he was thrown off the cycle from the initial collision.

The 'Ewa Beach man was treated for minor injuries and released.

The crash occurred at 10:39 p.m. yesterday near the intersection of Kunia Road and Wilikina Drive.

The Wahiawa man was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital in critical condition, and pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m.

Police said speed was an "apparent" factor, but that it was unknown whether alcohol was involved. Neither cyclist was wearing a helmet.
