Police arrest two teens after man beaten in Waikiki

Advertiser Staff

Two boys, ages 14 and 16, were being held by police today on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder after a 40-year-old man was beaten unconscious and hit his head after falling to the sidewalk in front of the Waikiki Trade Center about 4:30 a.m. today.

Witnesses told police the two boys were arguing with the man before the alleged assault began.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said city paramedics were called to the scene at 4:36 a.m. and took the injured man to The Queen's Medical Center.

An update on his condition was not available last night.

Police did not say what triggered the altercation.
